Thank you so much to the 230ish amazing volunteers that stuffed a dumpster with trash picked up from the banks of the Missouri River at the Sugar Creek Missouri River Cleanup today! You were amazing!

Here's one of the last boatloads. Thanks to Sugar Creek for bringing the loader!

Great job thanks for your work.

So many positives! A real connection to the Big Muddy. A learning experience. Keeping our plastic out of the ocean. A big thanks to Missouri River Relief for providing us all the opportunity to be part of our own ecosystem, and to perhaps, in my case anyway, mitigate some of my own environmental impacts. You make it easy for us to do better.

I'd like to help next time!!!

We had a blast on the river today with Evergy Green Team, and got a ton of good work done. We cleaned up the river near Cooley Lake River Access, pulling more than 100 bags of trash from the beautiful riverbanks and forests downstream of Kansas City. It felt so good to get rid of these mounds of plastic washed into the river from the big city.

This group is an important supporter of our efforts in the KC region, and do so much great work to support conservation with groups like Friends of the Kaw - Kansas Riverkeeper and so many more. They are fun to work with and several folks stayed until the last trash bag was loaded in the dumpster.

Thanks Evergy for helping your community and for making the Missouri River a LOT cleaner for everyone!

Grateful to everyone. Helps keep it from drifting our way too!

We had a great first presentation at our new Big Muddy Speaker Series venue - the Riechmann Indoor Pavilion in Stephen’s Lake Park in Columbia.

Bob DiStefano, Missouri Department of Conservation Resource Scientist (and crayfish expert and enthusiast), gave an engaging presentation all about crayfish. He had the whole room laughing, learning, and repeating the mantra “crayfish eat everything, and everything eats them.”

If you missed it, check out the YouTube video of Bob’s presentation here: www.youtube.com/live/ez5wfR_ByLc?si=SKjNZuOFplURKkc8
