Missouri River Relief has been bringing people to the Missouri River since 2001 — through cleanups, education programs, and river experiences that change how people see this waterway and their relationship to it. Our work happens on the water, in communities, and everywhere in between. 

We believe the river belongs to everyone, and we're building a team that reflects that. Our home base is Columbia, Missouri, but our work takes us up and down the lower Missouri River — from Omaha, Nebraska to St. Louis, Missouri. 

How We Work 

We show up for this river and for each other guided by three values that shape everything we do. 

Play. We genuinely love what we do — and it shows. We spend time on the river inside and outside of work hours, and we bring that energy into every program, every cleanup, and every new person we meet at the water's edge. Curiosity and joy aren't extras here. They're part of the job. 

Adaptability. The river doesn't follow a script, and neither do we. When conditions change — and they will — we stay calm, get creative, and find another way. We prepare thoroughly so we have options, and we support each other through the unexpected. Think of it as Plan C readiness, always. 

Reverence. We have deep respect for this river and for the people and communities in relationship with it. That respect shows up in how we teach water safety, how we plan our events, how we talk to volunteers, and how we listen to the communities we serve. The river demands it. So do the people we work with.
