Saturday, October 19, 2024

Missouri River Relief will make its way to the historical river town of New Haven, MO to host a large-scale river cleanup! Our last cleanup here was in 2016, where we worked with 155 volunteers to remove over 7 TONS of trash from the Missouri River! Read more about the 2016 New Haven Missouri River Cleanup here. Trash is the name of the game, but we hope you can join us to also get connected to the Big Muddy! Check out more information about the event below.

Everyone is Welcome - Our cleanups aren’t just for picking up trash, they’re also for helping people connect with the Missouri River. We strive to be as accommodating as we can for all our volunteers within the space we are working out of. The cleanups provide safe ways to capture people’s natural curiosity of the River while helping protect the natural environment around them. After the cleanup portion of the event, we also have our engaging event extras.

What's next

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email. Two weeks before the cleanup you will receive an email from us with some additional information. The week of the cleanup you will receive an additional email from us with any additional information you need to know, including weather and river conditions. If you are not receiving emails from us, make sure to check your junk folder.

Event Extras

When you return to the boat ramp, MRR has a handful of activities you can participate in:

Trash Contest - make sure to bring your best trash find back with you to compete for a prize. Get creative! You and others will put your finds up against each other and the crowd will decide which one is the best. There will be numerous prizes.

Missouri River Explorer Badge Program - designed for ages 5 to 18. The badge is gained upon the completion of the Activity Card, which includes participation in activities and events that fall under the three tenets of the river. Explore, Learn and Protect. Stop by the booth to earn your badge!

Clean Rivers Start at Home - stop by our new table to learn about how YOU can stop the flow of trash into the Missouri River. While you’re there, you can try your hand at matching single use plastics with their reusable alternatives. Hopefully you’ll leave with new ideas about how to reduce single use plastics in your home and daily life.
