161 volunteers shrugged off the high water and hit the Big Muddy for our second ever Hartsburg clean-up. With the river cresting on Saturday just below flood stage, the clean-up was mainly focused on areas above the banks, in the forest and drift piles flanking the river.
With the help of 94 volunteers, we took a massive chunk out of a decades-old dumpsite spilling into the Osage River just upstream of the Mari-Osa Delta. Crews spent a day and a half pulling 18.7 tons of junk from the base of that dump. We didn’t get it all, but I think the momentum to make it all disappear has begun.
This unique event was designed to bring together Stream Team participants from the area for a day of hard work and fellowship. Smaller numbers of participants gave us opportunities to exchange savvy, stories and contact information, all while picking up trash.
We had a beautiful spring day in Kansas City cleaning up the river with 115 fantastic volunteers. Kansas City is the largest city centered on the Missouri River and has a growing population of people that love this long neglected river. It feels so good to be back working there with those wonderful KC people.
A wonderful group of community members, students, families, stream teamers, and river lovers of all ages turned out to clean-up the Missouri River at Boonville on a lovely day in October! A total of 257 volunteers removed a collective 2.4 tons of trash from the banks of the Big Muddy by motorboat and the Lamine River by canoe!
A Big Muddy thanks to the 309 volunteers who turned out to clean-up the Missouri River on Sept. 16, 2017! Nearly 5 tons of trash were removed from our river environment, including 107 tires! Over the years, we have met some amazing volunteers in the St. Louis area and have enjoyed working with our partners there to help beautify this gorgeous stretch of the Big Muddy.
We are headed to the Confluence of two great rivers--the Missouri and Mississippi River! We haven't been back since 2018, 4 years! Boy does time fly, but MRR is excited to clean up St. Louis's reach of the Missouri River! Please join us September 17th for a day of stewardship.
A beautiful weekend with wonderful people cleaning up one of our favorite stretches of river. This was our first time hosting a cleanup in New Haven, and we are all a little starry-eyed with how beautiful and pleasant the town and its people are. Any time we are cleaning up a part of the river for the first time, volunteers end up hauling a bunch of junk out of there. This was no exception - 155 volunteers removed 7.2 TONS of trash from the river floodplain in one day!
The Confluence Trash Bash is an amazing event involving hundreds of volunteers across North St. Louis cleaning up streams, rivers and lakes in their neighborhoods. It's hosted by Greenway Network with a long list of partners. 524 volunteers and crew collected 6.12 tons of trash and 381 tires!
An amazing group of paddlers showed up, staging their canoes then hopping on our school bus shuttle up to Katfish Katy’s. We had a full fleet of canoes lended to us from Central Methodist University, Columbia College and the Mo. Dept. of Conservation. We had 60 volunteers help out (including Roxy the river dog) and snagged 1.8 tons of junk, including 30 tires and a purple dinosaur sandbox. These folks worked it!
