From fabulous weather to being able to experience the demolition of Washington’s iconic bridge by river, we are so thankful that the stars aligned to create the best river festival and clean-up yet. Together, we removed 5.5 tons of trash from the banks of the Missouri River, half of which we were able to recycle.

Great Rivers Cleanup at the Confluence 2018

Missouri River Relief really left their mark on Columbia Bottom Conservation Area this time around. The staff and crew were camped for a total of 4 nights and 5 days while we hosted groups, schools, organizations, and dedicated individuals and families for stewardship and education along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Even though we had higher than usual water levels to deal with, our huge group of 181 dedicated volunteers tackled the banks of the two rivers and searched high and low for trash that followed the high waters from 2015 and 2017.

Hartsburg Missouri River Cleanup 2018

After just a couple of hours, volunteers collected 143 big bags of trash and removed 38 tires from the banks of the river, totaling 3.31 tons! Thank you so much to our sponsors, partners, volunteers, and crew for helping us put on this amazing event. This clean-up was such a great way to end our clean-up season and we are already looking forward to the next one.

Washington River Festival and Cleanup 2017

Washington, Mo. is one of the most river-centric towns on the Lower Missouri River. The beautiful park overlooking the river is the ideal place to hold, not just a community river clean-up, but also a local river festival highlighting the town's connection to the river. We had our sixth Washington River Festival and Missouri River Clean-up on April 8, 2017. And it was the best ever. The weather was perfect and we had 170 volunteers show up to remove 5.75 tons of junks from the banks and floodplains of our streams.

This was our fifth year to host the Washington River Festival and Missouri River Cleanup, and it was the best yet! The River Festival was hosted by organizer and musician Gloria Attoun Bauermeister along with a huge list of festival committee members, partners and volunteers.
There was a river cleanup and activities all day long.
