2023 Community Cleanups

River Cleanups hosted by Missouri River Relief

Our modified River Cleanups provide volunteers a safe opportunity to explore and enjoy the river with family, friends, and neighbors while beautifying a gorgeous stretch of the Big Muddy.

2023 "Away Teams"

These events are hosted by partner organizations that Missouri River Relief is assisting with:

  • August 26 - Operation Clean Stream -  Every August, volunteers take to the Meramec River and its tributaries to clean it up, 55 years and counting!

  • September 23-27 Paddle MO St. Louis – Pelican Island to the Confluence, St. Louis, MO - Hosted by Stream Teams United

2023 River Races

To witness the determination of river racers, the grit of the ground crews and the hospitality of the volunteers involved are truly inspiring. We are proud to provide safety boats to assist up and down these racecourses and be part of so many races that have changed the way our state looks at our rivers.

These serve our mission to connect people to the Missouri River in an intimate way, while also raising money as a fundraiser to support our efforts.

  • August 1 - 4 - Missouri American Water MR340 - Hosted by Missouri River Relief with the folks at Rivermiles, this 340-mile race across the state of Missouri from Kansas City to St. Charles is the world's longest nonstop river paddling race.

  • August 26 – Race for the Rivers – Weldon Springs to St. Charles, MO – Hosted by Greenway Network

  • October 7 Race to the Dome - Hosted by Missouri River Relief as a fundraiser event. You can pick 16 or 26 miles - from either Providence or Hartsburg to Jefferson City ending at Wilson's Serenity Point.

2023 Education Programs

Our education programs engage participants’ sense of wonder and natural curiosity to explore the Missouri River through place-based programs. We seek to build knowledge and understanding of the Missouri River through hands-on experiences that will deepen connection and a sense of responsibility for its care and stewardship.

Check out our education webpage to learn more and request an education program.

2023 Special Events

We pride ourselves on bringing communities together regardless of what the occasion might be, big or small. Here are a few public outreach events you're welcome to participate in:

Big Muddy Boat Rides

A monthly motorboat series out of Cooper's Landing between May through September of 2023.  Each month, registered participants will have the opportunity to step aboard our motorboat for a 2-hour interactive experience where we'll introduce you to our treasured natural resource.

Trash Mob Volunteers

We are encouraging individuals to get their “pod” together and form their own “Trash Mob”, or individual cleanup.  Check out our webpage about Trash Mobs and how you can take to the streets and streams to make a difference in your watershed!  All of these streams and tributaries drain into the Missouri River.
