Last year, Missouri River Relief partnered with Missouri River Bird Observatory (MRBO) and Show-Me Stormwater Management to bring virtual presentations about the Missouri River to assisted living facilities. The Virtual Missouri River Tour & Panel Discussion was the first education program designed with this audience exclusively in mind. Listening to the stories told by our attendees and learning about our shared river experiences was more than enough encouragement to plan another round of presentations for 2022.
We are providing three virtual presentation options for this program. Below are descriptions of each presentation from our Boats, Birds & Boone County Stormwater: Virtual Presentations series. If you are interested in learning more about or booking one of these presentations, please reach out to us by completing the form below.
Missouri River Relief's virtual tour provides a front row seat to the natural wonders found along the Missouri River, where every moment brings a new experience. It incorporates spectacular views of limestone bluffs, eagles' nests, and enduring artwork, as well as insider’s knowledge about the river.
Those who participated in our 2021 Panel Discussion will be familiar with this presentation.
This presentation is all about birds. Meet with Missouri River Bird Observatory's Paige to discuss why birds are awesome and an important part of our ecosystem.
Attendees will get the chance to quiz themselves on what they already know with a game of JeopBIRDy! Afterwards, there will be time for storytelling and questions.
This presentation tells the story of our local waterways. Michele, the Boone County Stormwater Educator, will guide a discussion on how we are all connected through the local streams that provide us with water, resources, and enjoyment.
Attendees will experience the process of how the Hinkson Creek has changed over the last 200 years. This presentation includes a demonstration of how individual actions have impacted our rivers in both negative and positive ways.
This program is specifically tailored for the residents of assisted living facilities. The program is meant to provide residents with the opportunity to learn about the river and invoke memories that stimulate the brain and contribute to residents' overall mental wellbeing.
Our presenters encourage questions and would prefer the ability to interact with attendees. Please note on the registration form if your setup does not support an interactive virtual presentation.
Some presentations require more direct interaction than others. For example, This is JeopBIRDy! will require consistent communication between MRBO's Paige Witek and individual attendees.
The Virtual Missouri River Tour will involve a screening of Missouri River Relief's Virtual Field Trip followed by a Q&A session.
The Tale of Hinkson Creek presentation will also involve interaction between presenter Michele Woolbright and the audience.Â
Big Muddy thank you to our partners for their work on this program. Both organizations work tirelessly to bring education about our local waterways and the wildlife that resides within them to the attention of our Mid-Missouri community. Click on their logos for more information.
