Saturday, October 18, 2008 - Overton North Unit of Big Muddy NFWR

Come help Missouri River Relief, Living Lands & Waters and 3M as we continue our work restoring the wetlands at the Overton Bottoms North Unit of the Big Muddy National Fish & Wildlife Refuge.

What we're doing

Joining with Living Lands & Waters and 3M employees to plant native trees and prairie cordgrass plugs in the "wet prairie" of Overton Bottoms North Unit of the Big Muddy National Fish & Wildlife Refuge.

When

9:00am to 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 18. Lunch will be provided at noon.

Planting Headquarters

We'll meet in the Big Pecan parking lot at Overton Bottoms, along the road to Taylor's Landing River Access (Directions below). We'll then be heading to several sites in the bottoms for the planting.

What you get

Volunteers will receive work gloves, a t-shirt and lunch. Shovels are provided.

What to bring

Sunglasses, sunscreen, sturdy boots or shoes, weather-appropriate clothes, a reusable water container (to cut down on waste) and a willingness to get down and dirty!

Directions

From I-70. Exit at the Highway 179 exit (Overton/Woodridge - Exit #111). Head north. Turn right at the "T" (on Highway 98) and follow signs. Cross railroad tracks. Big Pecan Parking lot is on your right (by the big pecan trees!)
